Cagliari, Italy
May 23-24, 2024

The University of Cagliari (Italy) and the Telfer School of Management (Canada) are proud to announce the 2nd Conference of Research in Entrepreneurship, Education and Technology (#CREET) that will take place on 23-24 May 2024 in Cagliari, the regional capital of Sardinia, one of the most beautiful islands located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea.

This annual global conference aims to promote worldwide scholarly collaborations across regions, continents, and academic communities at the intersection of three relevant topics: entrepreneurship, education, and technology. This year’s conference wants to stimulate a debate on the future of our society and how entrepreneurship, education, and technology can transform, impact, and draw insights for it. Nowadays, the knowledge-based society experiences rapid changes due to the increasing Artificial Intelligence (AI) power, disruptive digital factors, and global digital networks. Researchers and educators have become aware that there is an urgent need to understand how research can help our society prepare entrepreneurs, managers, and policymakers for a future global knowledge economy and continuously changing scenarios that push to transform our way of thinking and doing.

Therefore, in this year conference, our distinguished keynote speakers, Prof. Miruna Radu-Lefebvre (Audencia Business School, France) and Prof. Magnus Klofsten (Linköping University, Sweden) will provide their perspectives on how to address these topics and their intersection in these challenging times. Moreover, two thematic symposia will draw our attention, one to the links between technology and current organizing and entrepreneurial practices and the other one to future perspectives by trying to imagine utopias, dystopia, and heterotopias. Therefore, three main general research questions are inspiring this annual CREET conference:

  1. What can we expect from the intersection of entrepreneurship, education, and technology?
  2. What can be the role of technology in our society and how it relates to entrepreneurship and education?
  3. What lines of research should be prioritized to size current challenges at the economic and societal levels?

This annual international conference will call on entrepreneurship, innovation, education, and technology management scholars to concentrate on creating and strengthening connections and debates, even if not exclusively, around these main research questions and related topics. Particularly, we welcome unpublished working papers from all research areas regarding entrepreneurship, education and technology.

Examples of suitable topics for the conference include:

This workshop uses arts-based pedagogy as an innovative methodological tool to elicit participants’ perceptions about entrepreneurship, education and the role of technology in the context of entrepreneurship education. Arguably, arts-based education and associated learning have the potential to access, develop, and contribute to a more holistic way of engaging with managerial contexts, enabling a different way of knowing that comes directly from our five senses. Art, in this context, becomes a reflective tool to stimulate contemplation and understanding of the phenomena under consideration.

In detail, this workshop aims to: a) bring out the underlying perceptions of entrepreneurship, education, and technology through sensuous knowing that engages participants’ intuition and imagination; b) engage participants in sensemaking processes to critically examine the phenomena in question; and c) create visions of how these concepts might be reconciled in various professional contexts (academic and entrepreneurial).
